Netball Fiji’s 2024 AGM was held on the 22nd of February at the Tanoa Plaza Hotel in Suva. Nadroga Netball Association was represented at the AGM by President Avinesh “Juddy” Kumar and Secretary Sandeep Prasad.
Netball Fiji AMG provides a platform for Nadroga Netball Association to engage in discussions and address issues affecting Netball. We are grateful for the discussions held and the resolutions from the meeting.
One of the highlights from the AMG was the resolution to hold an SGM to allow Suva Netball Association to resubmit its remits for changes to the Netball Fiji constitution. There is a general consensus that Netball Fiji constitution has become outdated and there is an urgent need to make some important changes to the constitution. Nadroga Netball Association is willing to work with Netball Fiji and other affiliated associations to ensure that the constitution governing netball in Fiji is updated, relevant and promotes the interests of all affiliated members.
A few other outcomes from the AGM were the need to better share information moving forward and this is for both ways. Netball Fiji needs to be collaborating and communicating a bit more in terms of what is happening in the space of Netball Fiji and ensuring that us districts are kept up to date. Members are expected to be more proactive in sharing their development needs and membership data to ensure Netball Fiji has updated records.
Netball Fiji’s President Report and Financials were also presented at the AGM which were both passed.
“There is a lot of work to be done in that space but it’s not going to be resolved overnight, said Mrs. Sorovaki (President of Netball Fiji). Similar sentiments were shared by our President, Kumar said “even though there are concerns and areas that we can work better in, Nadroga Netball will continue to work with the executives and actively push for our needs. RubyAnn is always generous with her time and is ready to take my call at anytime and address issues that Nadroga has”.
We are looking forward to another great year of Netball and now with the AGM successfully concluded, we move focus towards our activities in Nadroga.
